Age of Empire- Gems

Gems are found by going to the gem icon on the menu (next to the Helmet for the heros). Once in the menu you have two options. You can use gold or copper. To use gold click on the bottom left corner (use 2 gold for 10 searches). This will go automatically. TO use copper click on the images at the top. The copper cost will be displayed in the bottom corner of each image. As I understand it the higher the image is the better your chance is of getting higher level gems.

There are two categories of Gems, red for attack and blue for defense. As the size of the gem increases the quality increases as well. for example if you have two level 1 gems but one is skinny and one is fat the fat one will be of higher quality.

Gems are synthesizable, there doesn't seem to be a limit for how many you can add or how few you can add. there is a bar that advances with each gem added. only gems of the same quality can be synthesized together (only skinny ones together).

  1. Not sure if the last statement is true that only gems of the same quality can be synthesized together. I have a 3 star attack gem (fat gem)... at lvl 1 its attack rating is 200. I can use 6 1 star gems(skinny gems) to synthesize with this to upgrade it to a lvl 2 with attack rating of 400.

    1. You are correct, I haven't gotten around to updating older posts in a while sorry. You can synthesize smaller gems to larger gems but not larger gems onto smaller gems.

  4. trying to use a gem, no equipment to inlay - where do you get equipment?

  5. To get equipment you need to go to tower. There are three types of Equipment.

    Attack
    Clothes
    Necklace

Again, Attack equipment can be of 4 types:

    Archer
    Cav.
    Inf.
    Catapult.

I have just came across one type of cloth and necklace, will update as soon as i get more

  6. You can equip only one Gem for each type on a particular Hero, since it is locked.

So one hero can have maximum of 3 Gems.
    Attack- Red
    Defense- Blue
    Leadership- Yellow

    2. AFAIK, that feature has not been implemented yet (same for the third and fourth equipment slots). Just ignore it for now.

  8. Frozen Ice
    Fiery Mountain
    Forgotten Ruins

you can also upgrade them to next level and create the higher version by exploring next levels in tower

  9. are the rewards random or fixed? I ran Frozen Ice 10 twice in a row and each time it gave me a polearm to choose in the chest swap. Does each of the 10 have a specific set of rewards or was that just a fluke that I got a polearm twice? is there a list out there somewhere?
