Grid is always laid out in attack order, the attacker(left) always gets to go first.
741 147
852 vs 258
963 369
X= empty space
1=Sacrificial troops (using 3 troops in the tower is as effective as using 1 just have to refresh troops less often)
O= Offensive General, will take No damage in the formation
D= Defensive general will take all the damage in the formation
G= Opposing General
I will cover the three most versatile formations I have using this system. But mostly its just paying attention and knowing how the system works.
L- Formation (kill enemy generals from bottom up)
1XX XGX
1XX Vs GGX
XOD XGX
In this example the G in position 6 will be killed first, then followed by 2,5,4, the troops in location 4 will most likely attack your D, Positions 2 and 4 will kill your sacrificial troops. Thus as long as your O and D can kill all opposing generals in one hit each you will only loose 2 troops per battle.
I have found the L-Formation to be the most versatile of my go to formations. It is weak against any opposing formation with three generals on the bottom row:
XXX
XGX
GGG
Z-Formation (kill enemy generals from top down)
XOD
11X
XXX
When the troops you are against need to be killed from the top down this is the best formation to use. This formation is more limited since the attack order is kill in front then work your way up. And this puts your main force at the top which is a higher risk.
"T"- Formation (when the top and bottom need to be killed first)
XXD
11X
XXO
There are several formations in the tower that this is useful for. This formation does however have the most limitations. One notable one is when against this formation:
GXX
XGG
GXX
When facing the above troop formation the T formation will be the least useful even though it looks like the best fit. There is a G in the 1 and 3 position, so once you kill the 1 then you will be hit by the 3.
Those are my three main formations, but I do use others depending on how the troops are situated. There are many things to consider:
- How can I position my troops to take the least damage
- Take out the general with the most troops first, second or third. Since the last general they have left is usually the only one who will hit your main force. You want that general to have as few troops as possible.
- Remember that Infantry does extra damage to Archers, Cavalry does more to Infantry, and Archers do more to Cavalry. So if all generals have the same number of troops you want to take out your D's weakness first to minimize damage.
- Pay attention to attack order, it is usually you go they go you go they go, however there are times when this is not the case. Where you will get several turns in a row or they will. This seems to be random.
- Can I kill my intended target in one hit? Or would I be better off attacking a target with fewer troops?
- Consider enhancing your troops
- Enhancements can be found in the barracks, even enhancing your troops to lv 1 greatly increases their effectiveness.
- There is a detailed list of how the enhancements effects each troop type in the enhancements section if you click on the troop type icon (example: click infantry guy picture).
- Make sure your equipment is all equipped and up to date.
- Check the tavern often for new recruits
- Try to get all Heros with the same legion 5% isn't much of a bonus but it is certainly better then 0%
- Pay attention to the Letter levels, try to get at least C level or higher one for each troop type. S is the best but harder to come by. A and B would be superb but C will do for the time being.
- If you find that you are loosing more and more troops each battle, try leaving the tower and coming back. There is a glitch where the level number changes but you do not get any benefits of being a higher level until you re-enter the tower.
- After Each tower run update your arena line up. Even if you cannot challenge again today it will help you keep your position so you do not fall further behind.
This 1 unit thing does not work for me for well. I hand type in 1 unit at the beginning but then it auto-replenishes to the max. Is the idea that between every single tower battle you back out and go back in and hand type in one unit for the two sacrificial generals? If so, this is an extremely time-consuming tactic!
ReplyDeleteNo you unclick auto replinish. And you use 3 rather then 1. So you refill at most every third battle.
